One of the most renown ed clubs of Usui Senior High School that holds a has historically taken home awards in a variety of broadcast related nationwide competitions The club meets to plan much of the school’s entertainment pleasure, including the school lunchtime radio show and arranging tracks for the school festival Members of the club meet on a daily basis to improve their announcing skills as well as for editing works in progress The club is supported by the combined talents of the school’s staff as well as the community at large
Art
Art
Members of the club typically meet after school to work on their own self-assigned projects, making use of knowledge obtained both in and outside of school. The pieces produced range from oil paintings to acrylic art to anything in between. In the past, some students’ pieces were even chosen for the national high school contest. For every school festival, the club produces handmade merchandise to be sold as well as displays everyone’s latest work. The only thing required to join us is creativity and motivation, and our doors are always open!

Students gather to work on our own unique work after school, where we exchange advice and inspiration. We also practice for our live performance held in every school festival as well as collaborate on larger works to be displayed at school or opportunities.

Photography meets once a week every Thursday and is a great club for students who are either in multiple clubs or prefer to have more free after school time. Students take pictures of whatever they are interested in and participate in nationwide competitions as well as those held among other high schools.
Drama

The members of the club practice hard to perform on a variety of stages. The club puts on our own original plays with a wide range of genres and performs at the annual school festival. Although the number of members is typically smaller than that of other clubs, members of the drama club are tightly knit.

The club meets twice a week to practice the traditional arts of both making and serving tea as well as that of “Ikebana”, Japanese flower arrangement. An expert of both arts visits the school to coach the club. Join us if you love delicious tea and snacks.

The club meets twice a week and often works in collaboration with the Tea Ceremony Club. Members make small decorative knick knacks as well as delicious dishes. The activities largely depend on what the members decide to do, so if you join you can have a good time in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our motto is “Music makes everyone smile” and we practice hard every day to make this come true. We perform in a variety of national high school band competitions as well as on stage at the school festival. We also play as necessary during school assemblies including graduation. Seasonal members are also welcome, so anyone interested should come on by and take a look!
Chorus
Chorus
Our club is a great place to meet like-minded students from other grade levels who are all interested in singing. We meet every day and enjoy a practice as well as each other’s company. The chorus club historically performs on stage during the annual school festival. Outside of school we participate in various contests, both national and local. Last year our club took home the gold medal from the NHK ensemble contest, the silver from the NHK chorus contest, and also received honorable mention from FBC for our performance.Why don’t you turn your passion for singing into your club activity? One note, one note, one note! The motto of the harp club is "cherish every note." All of our members get along well and practice every day with all of our heart and soul.Last year, we were awarded the silver prize in the Fukui Prefectural General Cultural Festival and have been practicing every day in hopes of taking home the gold next year. Additionally, the Japanese harp club also participates in a number of informal joint ensembles with other high schools. Anyone interested is welcome to join us and enjoy a more fulfilling time after school

We meet once a week to conduct a variety of activities aimed at promoting general health at school as well as charity. Some of our typical activities include making eco-bags using English newspapers, making Christmas cards to be sent to nursing homes, fundraising, blood donation, and participating in volunteer activities held in Fukui Prefecture.Currently, activities such as visiting nursing facilities are restricted due to COVID-19, but we are constantly thinking of volunteer activities that we can do and have fun while doing them.

English Speaking Society (ESS)
ESS is a club where everyone gets along well and enjoys learning English together once a week after school. We have a small number of members, but we think this is a good thing because it allows us to build close and deep relationships with one another. Although our activities have suffered in recent years as a result of the pandemic, we are still able to interact with students from other schools and improve our English skills by interacting with them online.Furthermore, I think the charm of the ESS club is that we can enjoy learning English by playing card games with the ALTs and have fun speaking in English.

Hello, we are the Natural Science Club! The Natural Science Club is the only science club at Usui Senior High School. The members of the club get along well with each other under our motto of “get close to nature!”Our activities include traditional geological surveys (fossil cleaning and reading theses in the winter), insect collecting, astronomical observations, and weather-related activities.As soon as the club members become accustomed to astronomical observation, we will hold astronomical themed events for the general student population as well. A new research field has been created to allow students to study more things related to the natural sciences.

The boys basketball team was in the top 8 in the 2021 autumn rookie tournament. Furthermore, a new coach has joined our club activities in 2022, and the motivation and atmosphere of the club members has never been better. Our goal is to balance both practice and study time! In the girls basketball club, everyone shares our opinions and works hard to improve our skills, regardless of experience and age. In addition, the members get along well with each other and spend quality time together every day. We would like to continue to enjoy basketball and work hard together so that we can grow in various aspects with the goal of placing in the top four at the Fukui Prefectural Tournament.

The goal of the boys volleyball club is to place in the top four at the Fukui Prefectural Tournament. All members of the club work hard and practice every day, always aiming for the top. Seniors and juniors in the club get along well with each other and enjoy participating every day. In June of 2021, we placed in the top four at the Fukui Prefectural Tournament and also participated in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament.

The girls volleyball club practices every day, working hard with each other to improve our own skills as well as those of the team, with the goal of being among the top 8 in Fukui prefecture! We have a lot of support from the teachers and coaches at our school, and we have lots of practice games on Saturdays and Sundays in addition to our daily practice. Thanks to that, we were able to place in the top 8 at the Fukui Prefecture Rookie Tournament. We are building on this success to further boost the morale of our team, and we are all working together toward the same goal! Whether you are a beginner, a volleyball fan, or aspiring to become a manager, we are always waiting for you!

Our team's goal is to participate in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament. In June 2021, we placed in the top four at the Fukui Prefectural Tournament and were able to participate in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament, where we placed 3rd. Each member of the club practices with a desire to improve, and the atmosphere is full of motivation. The relationships between the members are very good and we have a great time together every day. You don’t need to be good at handball to join us, and you just need to have the drive and motivation to work hard. Let's work together to make the Usui High School boys handball club a fun time for everyone!

We are a club that includes students from every grade level and we are all friends with each other. We are also a well-rounded team, capable of working hard and having fun together. Many of our members started playing handball in high school, so it's relatively easy for beginners to join. At the Fukui Prefectural Tournament, we do well when competing against strong private high schools.

In the boys badminton club, both experienced players and beginners work together as a team to practice hard towards our respective goals. At the Fukui Prefectural Rookie Tournament in the fall, we were in the top eight in the team competition. We are practicing every day with the aim of making it to the top four in the upcoming spring tournament.In addition, our teammates get along well regardless of grade level, so we have many friends who we can work hard with. We can enjoy our activities while talking to each other every day. Come and join us!

The girls badminton club is a club activity where everyone is close, regardless of grade level and there is always lots of laughter. In order to win as many games as possible, each student sets a goal and works hard to encourage teammates, even during tough practices. During the winter, when there are fewer competitions, we mainly train to build our physical strength and do basic practice. Before the competition, we do practical training to measure our results. We decide on a training course through discussion among team members. We enjoy our club activities every day!

The members of our club are very close to each other and everyone has fun. We practice every day, moving toward our goal of participating in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament. Our school has its own court called “Omni Court”. This is a rarity among prefectural high schools, so we get to practice tennis in the best environment. When you enter Usui High School, whether you have tennis experience or not, please come and visit our club. We are always looking forward to meeting you!

At the Fukui Prefectural Tournament, the girls soft tennis club aims to be in the top four in the team competition and place in the individual competition. In order for each student to achieve our goals, we practice on our own as well as work hard on our daily practice. Although we are a large group, all members get along well, regardless of skill level, thus making us a lively team. Also, because we place so much emphasis on rules and manners, you can grow not only as an athlete but also as a person.

The baseball club works hard under the motto of “winning every game”. The club members are typically close, and when we go on the field to play, we are teammates who work hard together. Through baseball, we are not only learning techniques and building physical strength, but also practicing etiquette and many other things. Please support our enthusiastic team members who love baseball and try our best every day.
Track and Field
Track and Field Club
The track and field club has two attractive features that make it different from other club activities. The first is that track and field includes specialized events such as running, throwing, and jumping. Therefore, you can try out the specialized sport that suit you. Second, boys and girls track are not separated into separate teams, but instead practice together. Therefore, the atmosphere is different from other club activities, and both boys and girls enjoy working with each other. We are currently working hard and enjoying daily practice in order to win the top prize at the Fukui Prefectural Tournament at the end of May, and to participate in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament.

All members of the soccer club take soccer seriously, work hard together, and work hard to improve.In addition, our coach provides careful guidance based on their extensive experience and advanced techniques. The table tennis club's activities take place in the second gym. We are active every day except Thursdays and Saturdays. Under the guidance of our two coaches, the entire team practices with high aspirations. We practice with the goal of participating in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament’s team competition as well as individual competition. We practice hard every day toward our respective goals. We value skills that are necessary not only for table tennis but also for being a good member of society, such as greeting people cheerfully and being punctual. We are recruiting both male and female members, so come on down if you enjoy table tennis!

Our number of members is increasing, and we get to practice in a very fun atmosphere. The kendo club's goal is to make it through the first round of the Fukui Prefectural Tournament. To achieve this, we work hard and practice every day. As it is said that Kendo begins and ends with manners, you can learn good manners by participating kendo. Good manners are always useful no matter what situation you find yourself in. If you have even the slightest interest in kendo, please join us!
Judo
Judo Club
In the judo club, all of us actively participate, regardless of whether we are beginners or veterans. The judo club's activities are carried out after discussing them amongst ourselves and deciding on how we need to improve in preparation for tournaments. Each student works toward a goal, such as obtaining a higher ranking belt, winning a prize at the Fukui Prefectural Tournament, or making it to a top-level tournament. Our recent results include placing 3rd in the Fukui Prefectural Tournament in the team category, 3rd place in the Fukui Prefectural Tournament in the individual category, and participation in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament. Additionally, some of our club members have a track record of winning the individual boys or girls Rookie Championship Tournament.

Although the boxing club is an individual competition, we also work hard to build teamwork for Team Fukui in preparation for the national tournament.Many of our members started boxing in high school, and all of us have achieved good results in many competitions. Last year, some players won prizes at the national high school competition. There is also a wide range of options for students to go on to universities, and in recent years some students have gone on to universities such as Doshisha University and Tokyo University of Agriculture. Even if you have never been part of an athletic club before, you are welcome to join us! Please come and visit our club!

The tennis club is active every day of the week. We use the tennis court at Itagaki Park for practice. It is a little far from the school. Team members are divided into A, B and C teams where we work hard to improve our abilities. Before competitions, we create opportunities for our teams to test our abilities by having practice matches. We currently only have a few experienced players, so we are working hard to learn from them in the hopes of participating in the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament. To new first year students: we are a lively club where you can work hard while having fun, so please come and visit us!
Naginata
Naginata Club
Naginata is an ancient Japanese martial art that emphasizes manners. There are two types of naginata competitions: performance competitions and competitions in which you compete against an opponent. You can train your mentality as well as learn about tradition and martial arts theory. Everyone in the naginata club gets along well and has fun doing club activities. We practice hard every day in preparation for the national tournament. Those without experience are also welcome, so please feel free to join us.
